If we continue to talk to a loved one who has passed away, does that mean we are holding them back from getting to the other side? I certainly hope not, because there are some very lively conversations in my house, sometimes happy and sometimes very unhappy because of how this person is missed so much.
Dear Donna - Spirits from Heaven or the Other Side are able to communicate with loved ones here on the Earth Plane at different times when they feel we are in need of their help and guidance. We are certainly not holding them back since they have already crossed over. Spirit visitation is just part of what a soul on the Other Side can do.
Also, what are their feelings on people who are so lonely here on earth, do they feel betrayed if the one left behind tries to resume life and eventually develop a new relationship with someone else left who was also left behind by their spouse?
When we return to Heaven or the Other Side, we continue to love those we loved here on the Earth Plane. However, once we return to our "higher self" in Heaven, we realize that this life is only a small part of our greater soul existence. We know that while we were here for a certain number of years, we made relationships with other souls for the purpose of learning lessons and helping the other souls learn their lessons here on Earth. When someone dies at a younger age or a partner leaves another behind, the departing soul eventually realizes they have completed their learning experience and the remaining souls need to complete theirs. This sometimes means the ones left behind must go on to new relationships to survive and be happy. Higher souls want us to be happy...not lonely.
I did not get to say goodbye to my husband, he died very suddenly of a massive heart attach and he was working at the time. How do you recommend closure to this type of situation for me?

A channeling session is certainly one way you may get in contact with a departed loved one. They will also be able to hear your thoughts and words, if you want them to. I am sure your husband is watching over you and wants you to be happy and live the rest of your life in peace.While we can never forget them...we can allow others to come into our lives and bring much needed companionship and happiness. Everyone is different but if you feel the need to move on to a new relationship, your husband will be there supporting you from the Other Side.

Just finished "The Ghosts of Cape May", great book! I wonder about people who commit horrible crimes, vicious individuals who have no regard for others. Are their Spirit Guides of that nature also, or is it just a lack of communication?

Hi Andy - Spirit Guides can only guide, they do not decide or control our lives. Sometimes our lessons in life determine events that we become involved in. These events can have a negative energy to them and that energy can drag us down the wrong path. Spirit Guides will be there to help us...if we ask for help. Sometimes the lesson a soul must learn is to ask for help in a bad situation. They will try to show us what we are doing might have unpleasant or dire consequences but they may not try to intervene any more than that. There is no lack of communication with Guides, just selective hearing on our part!

I don't know who else to ask this of and anyone with any sort of metaphysical background that I have asked has never had an answer or possible explanation for this.
For the past several years I've noticed that certain lights will go out or turn on when I approach them. And then as I move away from the lights, they go back to their original state of being on or off prior to my proximity with the light. And if I walk back in and out of the field (to test it, they go on or off depending on my proximity again.) These are usually outside lights such as street lights or lights in a parking garage but are now starting to involve indoor lights.
At first I thought it was just coincidental, and some of it probably is, or that perhaps the these lights were on a timer (and they may be) but it seems to be happening much more frequently. And it doesn't seem to be limited to a particular geographic location although it seems to happen more frequently in areas that I spend more time in, but it can occur anywhere.
I suspect it has to do with electrical fields or energy but I don't understand why. And why it seems to happen with me, but not other people that I know. I'm more baffled by what it means, if anything, or why it happens. Is something or someone trying to get my attention? Is there something I'm not paying attention to?
If this question would better be answered in a private session, that's fine, I'm willing to do that. Any thoughts or insight would be appreciated.

Hi Susan - You are not alone in experiencing this phenomenon. My niece also has this effect on street lights! We are all big bundles of electrical energy wound together in magnetic fields in ways that science has yet to fully explain. Some of us have the unconscious ability to knock out lights, computers and appliances. This type of personality trait can become costly after the second or third computer is repaired! You can meditate on the issue and ask your Spirit Guides to help you calm down your energy.
On the other hand, ghosts also can knock out and affect electrical objects like lights but that is usually in a more stationary locale. Causing street lights to go out is one of two things, light sensors (that activate the lights to come on at dusk) malfunctioning, ghosts or just a person giving off a lot of random energy. Take your choice!

Hi Mike - I have always had a problem with ancient prophecy. Dates are not the same from the old times and our current calendar is certainly a few years off from what it used to be. 2012 is the end of the Mayan Calendar, I believe. My feeling is it is not the "end" of time just as far as that particular Mayan seer could "see" when they wrote their predictions of future world events. Don't worry yourself over this one...I never incarnate in an "apocalypse lifetime!"

Hi Jackie - You could try a channeling session or simply give your friend a little more time on the Other Side to settle back in. Spirits that are gone the longest come through the strongest. If your friend has just recently passed he/she will need some time to adjust. Hang in there. When the time is right you will get your cosmic mail!
Hi - My uncle passed away 2 years ago, and just about a month ago my cousin had a weird dream. Her family moved into a new house not long ago. My cousin said that in her dream she was walking up her attic stairs in the new house, but halfway up she was walking on the old attic stairs. Without realizing where she was, she walked the rest of the way up and walked into the room and started looking for something. She said she looked up and saw her father(my uncle) and stared because she couldn't believe what she was seeing. She said, "Dad, what are you doing here?" And my uncle said, "what do you mean? I'm always here." Then she said she looked around the room and saw where she was when my uncle vanished. what could this dream mean?

Hi Nikki - It sounds like your cousin was moving between planes in the dream. Seeing loved ones after walking up stairs or riding up an escalator is often a way our physical mind accepts a quick trip to the Other Side. This is not like a near death experience, this is when our consciousness is able to meet with a loved one at a halfway point...a place where both planes meet. The fact that your Uncle said "I'm always here," is very poignant. Souls from the Other Side are always within thought's reach. Heaven is not above us on some puffy clouds...it is all around us, existing in a dimension that we can feel but not see...at least while we are awake! Dreaming allows us a bit more freedom on the soul level then waking reality.
Twenty-seven years ago my wife prematurely gave birth to twin girls. One twin, Geralyn died in the intensive care unit after a few weeks. Her sister is alive although she has Down's syndrome. Would it be possible to channel Geralyn? Do children retain their mental age at the time of death or do they somehow advance? Thank you.

Hi Nick - When souls choose to reincarnate to this plane, they usually know just how long of a ride it will be. When children die, from what I have been told in channeling sessions, the souls that leave and go home had only wanted to be here for a short amount of time.In conscious life these children would not have known that fact, but on a higher soul level the date of arrival and departure is fixed on the calendar. Souls can be young, old and all of the in-between. If a child passes, the soul is not merely a few years old...it is usually much older. So the soul that incarnated briefly as your twin daughter may now be back in another body living a normal life as someone else. She may even be a friend or a neighbor!

Your name is virtually new to me, however, during my recent visit to Cape May it seemed to come up quite frequently. I visited with my sister August 20th thru the 24th and during that time myself and my daughter had some unnerving experiences and just ask if you could explain what it was that happened. As my sister lives at 1001 Washington Street at The Lamplighter Condos we would walk past some of the local bed and breakfasts, specifically, the Southern Mansion. One afternoon coming back from Washington Commons we were passing the mansion (I was on the opposite side of the street), I began to feel my hair raising on my neck and head and my entire body was covered with goosebumps. I couldn't explain it as there was no chill in the air (humidity was very high) and once I passed the mansion it would subside. Another day we were waiting on the front porch of the mansion to take a tour and were sitting on the left side where the solarium is located and my daughter turned around and saw a man and a woman who were holding hands and the man was wearing a suit, then they disappeared into the wall. (On that particular day there was a wedding about to take place on the lawn area.) I asked my daughter if maybe they were guests for the wedding, but she insisted on what she saw as described above. We continued during the course of our stay to walk past the mansion to go to the Commons and this would happen no matter what side of the street I walked on and this feeling started even as I approached the post office. It was then I realized something was truly occurring but I didn't know what. I took the trolley ghost tour to learn more. Another event which occurred involved my nine year old daughter. As we were passing the mansion one evening we decided to go on the grounds where the table and umbrella are located for the daily tours, again I felt the same sensation, but my daughter became very frightened while looking at the front lawn, her face turned red and she started crying and began to run away. When I asked her what happened she said she saw a "ghost". It was that of a young girl in a raggy dress and my daughter said she was looking at the hedges and she had no feet and seemed to be floating and then she disappeared. There was water being sprayed across the lawn, but when my daughter saw this apparition the water wasn't there. When my daughter began moving to see if it was a person she disappeared and the water started shooting up again. My daughter was very visibly upset and has not stopped talking about what she saw. The next day we decided to take the tour of the mansion and I felt nothing and neither did my daughter as we walked through the mansion (it was at daytime and the humidity had dropped). I even had the opportunity to enter Room #9 but again felt nothing.
On another evening we happened to be walking on Beach Avenue and turned at the side street of the Hotel Macomber and while I was passing the side of the building I felt the same sensation of goosebumps and again it subsided as I continued walking. I then purchased your book "The Ghosts of Cape May" and have been reading it since I arrived home.I am not a disbeliever in things of this nature and have had "experiences" in the past, but not of this nature. Dear Denise - Thanks for relating your wonderful ghost encounter! While it may have seemed frightening at the time, ghosts simply want to peacefully co-exist with us here on OUR plane. Everyone has different degrees of intuitive/psychic ability. Perhaps the ability is stronger in your family? Because ghosts are existing on another plane, circumstances also need to be right in order for a sensitive person to see, hear or "feel" a ghost. High humidity is thought to allow a ghost to exist more easily on this plane. Ghosts are fields of energy with a consciousness and this energy seems to be able to glide around easily when the air is filled with water vapor. Water conducts energy...humidity therefore conducts ghosts. You have had a wonderful, albeit unnerving, paranormal experience that many would die for!

You say that we each have a Spirit Guide that helps us through life. For those of us who cannot communicate with them as you can, what can we do to "hear" our Guide, and make our walk through this Earth life with a better understanding of the Other Side?

Nancy - Your have taken a huge step already by wanting to hear your Spirit Guides! If you need help and guidance, the best way to get it is to pray to your Spirit Guides for help. Ask them to also help you to understand their messages and signs to you. But don't get too caught up on signs...sometimes a STOP sign is just a stop sign! You have always had Spirit Guides around you, now let them know you are ready to take the next step...getting to know them and "hear" their thoughts. It takes time but the service is free to all who want it!
